Canopy Tent Care: Four Essential Tips

A pop-up canopy needs routine care between events. Follow the instructions supplied with the selected frame and roof cover; construction and cleaning requirements can differ between models.

1. Set up without forcing the frame

Choose suitable ground and check the model instructions before opening the frame. Keep the legs and trusses aligned as it expands. If a joint binds or a lock will not engage, stop and inspect it rather than pulling harder. Keep hands clear of moving joints.

2. Inspect before each event

Check legs, trusses, joints, fasteners, locks, feet and fabric attachment points. Look for bent components, loose parts and damaged stitching. Set aside damaged equipment until the correct replacement or repair is confirmed. Anchor and use the canopy according to the model instructions and site conditions.

3. Clean using the recommended method

Remove loose dirt gently. Follow the fabric supplier’s cleaning directions and test any cleaning product on an inconspicuous area first. Avoid aggressive scrubbing, harsh solvents and unapproved machine washing, which may damage printing, coatings or seams.

4. Dry and store carefully

Allow the fabric and frame to dry before packing. Store them in a clean, dry place and protect printed panels from abrasion. Check the bag and components again before the next event. A canopy is a temporary event shelter; do not treat it as protection from severe weather.
